Big Pine Lakes Trail, CA
Big Pine Lakes Trail, about a 12 mile round trip hike with around 3500' elevation gain in the john muir wilderness of the eastern sierra nevadas 🏔️.
Excellent out and back hike with a scenery of Sequoia 🌲, large swaths of granite 🪨, grass, meadows, waterfalls 🏞️, and the lakes. During my july visit weather was near perfect; partly cloudy/ sunny ⛅ with chances of scattered rain 🌧️ in the afternoons and temperatures around 78° to 85° midday.
Although the hike is classified as 'hard', i would consider this a moderate hike with gradual incline in elevation, sandy well outlined trail, and ease of access to water the entire trail. There are also many resting points along the path in green coverage including the ranger station where people camp.
I was able to stay at the glacier lodge at the base of trailhead which provided very reasonable prices, quiet family setting for camping 🏕️, and even wi-fi and beer 🍺. Overall an excellent location i would love to return to with family or serious hiking 🥾 friends.
